This study was carried out to investigate how the degree of smartphone addiction of college
students can influence the regulation ability of learning motivation to influence their learning outcomes. The
reason for choosing this topic is that, when behaviors that are close to smartphone addiction appear, these
behaviors may be transferred to learning, which may affect the motivation control process that leads to proper
learning. To do this, we used smart phone addiction questionnaire and self-regulated learning scale. As a result,
there was a significant correlation between smartphone addiction level and regulation ability of learning
motivation. Especially, test anxiety and external goal-oriented factor among the sub-factors of learning motivation
regulation showed a statistically significant correlation with smartphone addiction. Regression analysis showed
that the level of addiction in the smartphone was affected by two sub-factors of learning motivation. These
results suggest that the maintenance of high level of addiction due to the increase of smartphone usage
increases the anxiety about the test and encourages the tendency to engage in learning only when the external
reward is strong. This suggests that the addictive use of smartphones may indirectly affect the learning process
of college students, and countermeasures to mitigate these smartphone addiction symptoms should be discussed
in the process of improving the learning of college students.
