The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of consultation in the main model of
consultation, Caplan's mental health consultation, Schein's process consultation, and Bergan's
behavioral consultation, and propose the direction of educational consultation at the level of
consultation model. The consultation model is a form of consultation expertise which is
distinguished from each field that established consultation. These three models are acknowledged in
many fields of consultation, and can be used to form an educational consultation model. The results
of this study suggest three characteristics of educational theory, namely uniqueness, extensibility, and
practicability, which will be the basis of educational consultation model. We also proposed the
conceptualization of consultation problems, the freedom and responsibility of consultant and
consultee, the relationship between consultant and consultee, and the process of consultation as
components of the educational consultation model. Although the direction of the proposed
educational consultation model is limited in its specificity and practicability, it is meaningful in that
it presents the direction of research of educational consultation.
