The purpose of this study is to examine the abstracts of research papers on Integration of ECEC
through language network analysis method, and to discuss what significance Integration of ECEC has
implied from the academic standpoint. From 1991 to 2017, 135 research papers were collected and
arranged for analysis. In order to analyze the research trends, common tendencies of the research
papers discussed all over the period were extracted, and the characteristics were analyzed by dividing
into three periods. Using the word analysis program KrKwic and the network analysis program
UCINET NetDraw, words with high frequency were extracted and the connection patterns between
the key words were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows. First, common words such as
‘early childhood education’, ‘child care’, ‘Korea’, ‘kindergarten’, and ‘Japan’ were common words
throughout the period. This is to confirm that the research paper discusses the integration of ECES,
focusing on these concepts. Second, as a result of exploring the characteristics of each period, it can
be seen that ‘Integration of ECEC’, ‘Nuri curriculum’, ‘Teacher’, and ‘Finance’ appeared as key words
in recent years. This implies that specific policies and emphases that the government implements for
Integration of ECEC are being handled meaningfully in research papers. In conclusion, we can
confirm that the terminology used in government policy and the approach to integration of ECES
are influencing the discussion of research papers on integration of ECES. Therefore, in future research,
it is suggested that the process of embodying the concept and essence of integration of ECES from
academic standpoint is needed.
