This paper is to look over Aesthetic Consciousness of Sajae kim Jeong-Guk(185-1541)’s poems. Sajae was a great literature of officials and was loyal to the country and loved the people very much in the Period of King Jungchong of the Choson Dynasty. His contemporaries rated his poems by using of critical terms of dignities such as ‘purity and quiet’. Sajae himself also criticized other writer’s poem from the aspect of the dignity criticism. Dignities mean holistic impression oozed out from the harmonies of talents, temperaments and all learning of writer. In his Literary mind, carved dragon, Liu Xie, Chinese critic, said, “As tastes differ, so writer makes works following his personality.” So, aesthetic characteristics and perception of Sjae would be better understood on the foundation of enough study of dignities on his poems. My first turn of this paper was a study of Sjae’s viewpoint on Dignities, centering on the dignity criticism. Then based on the Chinese classical theories of Liu Xie’s Literary mind, carved dragon, Si Kongtu’s Twenty four poem-grading and Guo Shaoyu’s Collected comments to poem-grading, I categorized and analyzed his poetic dignities into four, ‘purity and quiet, simple and natural, classical, strong and powerfu’, and finally approached to his aesthetic characteristics.
