The purpose of the this study was to investigate the theory of the planned behavior's
application to predicting volunteer activity among college students majoring social
welfare. Specifically, two hypotheses derived from the theory of planned behavior
regarding college students' volunteer activity were tested : First, attitude, subjective norm,
and perceived behavioral control would be significant predictors of intent and second,
perceived behavioral control and intent would be significant predictors of volunteer
activity. For the purpose, the data were collected from 357 undergraduate students from
6 universities located in D and K provinces by utilizing self-administered questionnaire.
Findings of the study were consistent with the theory of planned behavior, attitude,
subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control predicted intent, and perceived
behavioral control and intent, in turn, predicted volunteer activity among undergraduate
students. Based on the findings of the study, possible practice implications for families
with disabled adolescence and recommendation for further study were provided.
