Several researchers have made issues of educational realities in Korea and some of them hold a meeting discussing with each other under the theme of ‘educational therapy’ in October, 2007. In the results of continuing active discussions and activities concerning educational therapy, Korean Association of Educational Therapy has been found in March, 2008. In this article, some comparisons with American Association of Educational Therapy were presented in the view of the role and the functions of Korean Association of Educational Therapy. From the educational therapeutic point of view, clear differences exist in the histories and backgrounds of the foundation of the associations between America and Korea. In this standpoint, it is so necessary to establish the concepts of educational therapy appropriate to the real conditions in Korea. According to this goal, in this article, practical reviews were presented with the organizations, the regimes of membership and educational therapist, and the scientific researches in American Association of Educational Therapy to find out critical helpful suggestions for the development of Korean Association of Educational Therapy. It is expected that this article could be the footing for the development of Korean Association of Educational Therapy.
