Bunwonri is the last official kiln. It had run for more than 130 years as an important place and most of blue & white porcelains had manufactured here since the branch of Saongwon in Keumsari was moved to Bunwonri in 1752 and came under privately management in 1884. For analyzing characters of blue & white porcelain, 22 shards and chemical compositions with micro structure of bodies and glazes of them were observed. Additionally, firing temperature was deduced through refiring test.
The analyzed materials of Bunwonri was compared with that of MingㆍChing and chemical compositions of bodies and glazes were researched comparatively. Through this experiment, it was revealed that blue & white porcelain of Bunwonri was magnetized well in high temperature, in contrast, refining of body was not as good as blue & white porcelain of MingㆍChing. The difference of method for making body was discovered and the reason why firing temperature of MingㆍChing was higher than that of Bunwonri. Difference of method of making glaze of MingㆍChing and that of Bunwonri were confirmed and connections between two were defined.
The fact that magnetization was pretty fine was shown through the micro structure analysis using an optical microscope, in addition, the fact that sherd of Bunwonri BW1-2 was firing about 1200℃ was informed through refiring experiment.
