이 연구는 정규학교 생활에 적응하지 못하여 학교중단 위기에 처한 두 학생이 경험한 위탁형 대안 교육기관의 선택과 적응과정에 대한 내러티브를 통해서 정규학교에서의 부적응 상황과 학교중단 위 기의 원인, 위탁형 대안교육기관의 선택 과정, 정규학교와 위탁형 대안교육기관에서의 학업과 일상 경험의 비교, 위탁교육 경험으로부터 배운 교훈, 그리고 소속하고 있는 정규학교로의 복교 의사 등을 분석함으로써, 공교육과 대안교육의 가교 역할을 하고 있는 위탁형 대안교육기관에서 학생들이 어떻 게 자신들의 학교중단 위기를 극복하고 학교재적응 과정의 경험을 재구성하고 있는가를 드러내고자 하였다. 이 내러티브 탐구는 현재 한국사회의 공교육 제도 속에 편재하고 있는 학생들의 개별적인 학 교부적응의 원인과 그로 인한 학교중단 위기 상황의 단면을 드러낼 수 있는 계기를 제공하는 한편, 그에 대한 해결책으로서 실시되고 있는 위탁형 대안교육기관의 대안적 위상과 의미를 점검해보는 기 회를 제공해 줄 것이다.
This paper analyzes and interprets the narratives about the education experience of two students who have continued their schooling in a commissioned alternative educational institute because of their maladjustment at regular school. Their narratives are about their experiences of maladjustment and dropout crisis at regular school, the process of selecting a commissioned alternative educational institute, the comparison of experiences of learning and ordinarty lives at regular school and commissioned alternative educational institute, the lessons learned from the experience of commissioned education, and their intention to return to regular school. This narrative inquiry discloses how students overcome the crisis of school dropout and reconstitute their experiences of school readaptation process in a commissioned alternative educational institute located in the bridge between public education and alternative education. This narrative inquiry can provide an opportunity to reveal one of the section of individual maladjustment of students who are ubiquitous in the public education of Korean society, and to check the alternative status and meaning of the commissioned alternative educational institute as a solution to school maladjustment.
