This study was conducted on 154 students of Daegu and Daejeon area who belong to welfare
department (senior welfare major, child welfare major) and rehabilitation department (occupational therapy
major, language rehabilitation major). Questionnaires were used in the survey method, and frequency

awareness of 'denial of the presence of the disabled' among the six sub-factors of disability perceptions
including rejection, denial, prejudice, discomfort, damage consciousness and prejudice as opposite-gender.
Second, the presence of friends with disabilities positively influenced the perception of the disability, but
the presence of family members with disability did not make a significant difference. Third, students who
had experience of conversation with the disabled, experience of participating in the event, experience of
class showed less negative perception of the disabled. Finally, negative perceptions of persons with
disabilities were lower in the order of child welfare major, elderly welfare major, language rehabilitation
major, and occupational therapy major. On the basis of this result, made a suggestion about the follow-up
research and developing program.
