In this paper, in order to investigate the relationship between the current history teacher recruitment examination
and the history teacher training curriculum from the trainer’s persepctive, this study analyzed the question items of the
major subjects from 2014 to 2017 by evaluation area and type. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the reliability
of the major items was high while the validity was low. Validity is a measure to judge the relationship between the history
teacher recruitment test and the training process. Therefore, it is expected that the recruitment test of history teachers with low
validity will have adverse effects on the teacher training curriculum. As a practical measure to improve the validity of the
items, there is a need to continuously check through research or various professional meetings whether the Korea Educational
Background Assessment Center complies with the principles of the school curriculum and refine the item types accordingly.
One particular item type that needs to be changed is the essay question. The present essay question needs to be eliminated as it
remains only as a bundle of 3 to 4 descriptive short answer formats.. In addition, the balance of the question formats can be
improved by increasing the number of gap-filling questions while reducing the descriptive questions. Lastly, the subject of the
gap-filling questions and descriptive questions should be more clearly and specifically classified.
