Smart health care that provides analyzed information by collecting and integrating physical data via
smart devices is growing rapidly due to the social changes that includes aging phenomenon, the increase
of medical expenses, the change of medical service paradigm from treatment to prevention, and
improvement of living quality. Smart health care targets is expanded to not only patients but also healthy
public and more infants, toddlers and parents so that the range of services and information providers are
diversified. However, the development of smart healthcare for infants and toddlers needs more studies to
monitor the child's needs, health, safety, risk notification, health status, and provide appropriate information
service. Consequently, related case studies is analyzed through literature review and the development future
direction is suggested in this paper. As a result, IoT is focused on the health and safety such as health
care, disease prevention, and personal safety in its early stage. However, it is possible to expand the
contents in the welfare and education fields such as healthy caring and educating infants and toddlers. In
order to increase the more participation and interest of young children, it is be promoted that existing
products is going to be smarter by the development of character and game design for the entertainment,
the compact size, and lightweight wearable.
