본 연구에서는 국내 유학생 중 두 번째로 높은 비율을 차지하고 있는 재한 베트남 유학생들의 문 화 적응에 소셜미디어가 어떻게 활용되고 있는지를 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 소셜미디어 상의 베트남 유학생 공동체의 활동을 6개월 동안 관찰했고, 관찰했던 유학생들 중에서 유학생 자조 모임의 구성원 이며 한국에서 9개월 이상 생활한 5인을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 면담을 진행하였다. 연구결과 소셜 미디어는 유학생들이 한국어와 한국 문화에 서툴러서 위축될 수 있는 환경을 더 편하게 생활할 수 있도록 문화 적응에 용이한 환경을 만들어 주었다. 구체적으로 유학생들은 소셜미디어를 한국어 학습, 베트남 유학생 공동체 연락망, 모국에 있는 가족들과의 가상 접촉, 관계 확장을 위한 스몰 토크, 정체 성 환기, 모국 문화의 알림, 민족 정체성 표현 등으로 활용하고 있었다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 소셜미디어를 활용한 유학생들의 초국적인 활동과 문화적응의 양상을 더욱 깊게 연구할 필요가 있을 것이다.
This paper explores how to use the SNS by Vietnamese students for their acculturation. For this purpose, I observed the activities of the Vietnamese student community in SNS for 6 months. Among the foreign students who were observed, 5 Vietnamese students who were members of the self - help group and who lived in Korea for 9 months or more were selected as research participants. They were interviewed and the interview data thus collected were analyzed to fulfill the above objectives. Findings are as follows. Foreign students were using SNS for Korean language learning, Vietnam foreign student community contact, virtual contact with family members in their home countries, small talk for expanding relationship, identity ventilation, notification of home culture, and expression of national identity. Based on these results, it will be necessary to deepen research on the transnational activity and acculturation of foreign students using SNS.
