The purpose of this study is to evaluate and systematically analyze the dose - response exercise program
and its effects for the control of hypertension in postmenopausal women. A total of 15 articles were
searched using "postmenopausal women", "hypertension", "dose response", and "exercise" as search terms,
using the CINAHL, Pubmed, Cochrane Library, and Ovid-Medline archives. The subjects of the analysis
were the studies published abroad between January 2001 and May 2017 as exercise programs related to
hypertension in postmenopausal women. All of the papers included were quantitative studies that explained
the dose-response to exercise in postmenopausal women. As a result of the study, it was determined that
applying dose - response exercise prescriptions to postmenopausal women was most effective when
considering weight, body fat, and BMI, which are factors that cause cardiovascular diseases. In addition,
moderate exercise intensity in the 12-week period following menopause was found to cause the most
appropriate positive change in most papers in relation to hematologic factors, physical index changes, vital
signs, respiratory system and cardiovascular system index changes. Outcomes were classified into 4
categories in the 15 papers: Physical outcomes, bio chemical outcomes, qualitative outcomes and general
characteristic outcomes. In conclusion, moderate intensity exercise training is sufficient to improve HRV,
coronary heart disease risk factor (body mass, waist circum, body fat, HDL) and quality of life. Based on
the result of data analysis, we suggested that nursing education should be conducted to follow the exercise
intervention for improving the hypertensive postmenopausal women.
