This study considered the meaning of integrated art education focusing on the case of Korea Arts &
Culture Education Service as a public agency reflecting the domestic policies and flow of time. ‘A Learning
Community, Arte Club’ for the development of art educators' competencies suggested diverse methods of
integrated art education in the form of integration between art genres, integration between subjects, and
regional linkage. ‘2015 Art Imagination Group’ as an integrated art education support project for art
instructors realized the integrated art education program between art genres on site. ‘Civic Culture & Art
Educational Activity Support Project-SiSiKolKol' connected the regional space of daily life for artists and
ordinary people with the medium of culture &art, and as a result, the concept of integrated art education
was expanded.
Based on the case study, the issues related to the division of integrated art education system, society
aspect, and meaning of art were suggested. In other words, the necessity of integrated art education
system, caution not to be degenerated into a tool of the government policies, and the importance of
professionalism and essence of art were handled as issues.
Like this, in order to establish the systematic curriculum of integrated art education, the discussion of
definition should be continued. The reason why the art & culture is important for policies is that it
represents human beings. When humans' experience and thinking are communicated through the symbolic
language of art, they help people to be connected to each other, which leads to social integration. As a
methodology of culture & art education, the integrated art education should be continuously researched
for the form and process of connection.
