본 연구 목적은 K-MOOC에 참여한 성인학습자의 참여와 성공적 과정 이수에 유의하게 영향을 미 치는 요인을 규명하는 것이다. 본 연구의 대상은 2015년 10월 14일 이후부터 2016년 2월 29일까지 K-MOOC에 수강신청을 하여 강좌를 수강한 회원가입자 71,033명 중 전통적인 성인학습자로 볼 수 있는 30세 이상 37,394명이었다. 구체적으로 본 연구는 K-MOOC에 가입되어 있는 성인학습자의 가 입정보 변인(성별, 연령 수준, 학력 수준, 참여 동기)이 학습 참여 정도(로그인 횟수, 게시판 작성 횟 수)에 미치는 효과는 다중회귀분석을 통해서, 참여자의 가입정보 변인 및 참여 동기가 강좌 이수여부 에 미치는 효과는 이수 집단과 이수하지 못한 집단을 이분화 후 그 변인을 대상으로 로지스틱 회귀분 석을 통해서 추정하였다. 본 연구 결과를 보면, 첫째, 로그인 횟수를 통한 참여 정도에는 성별, 연령 수준, 학력 수준, 그리고 학습 자체(배움)에 대한 관심으로 인한 참여 동기와 소속기관 및 제3자의 추 천으로 인한 참여 동기가 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 게시판 작성 횟수를 통한 참여정도에는 연령 수준과 학습 자체(배움)에 대한 관심으로 인한 참여 동기 만이 유의한 영향을 미 치는 것을 확인하였다. 셋째, 강좌의 성공적 이수 여부에는 연령 수준, 로그인 및 게시판 작성 횟수, 그리고 학습 자체(배움)에 대한 관심으로 인한 참여 동기와 우수한 강좌(교과 및 강사)에 대한 관심 으로 인한 참여 동기가 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
This study aims to investigate the determinants of adult learner’s participation and successful completion in K-MOOC courses, with a sample of 37,394 K-MOOC-registered adult learners over 30 years old. Traditional multiple regressions were conducted to examine the effects of the major demographic variables and participative motivation on the degree of adult learners' K-MOOC course participation (as measured by the number of system logins and the number of discussion forum inputs). In addition, a logistic regression was conducted to examine the impact of the adult learner’s major demographic variables, the extent of course participation, and participative motivation on a successful course completion. The study finds that gender, age, education level, and the participative motivation arising from both personal interest in learning itself as well as encouraged by institutional or others' recommendations all significantly affect the number of system login. Second, authors confirm that age level and the personal interest in learning significantly affect the number of discussion forum inputs. Finally, age level, number of both login in the learning system and discussion forum inputs and the participative motivation arising from both personal interest in learning itself as well as high quality of the course (both its contents and instructor) have a significant impact on successful course completion by the adult learners.
