Popular literature has been influencing more and more readers. That means so many people enjoy fantasy novels, action movies, and melodramas, these days. Actually, even professional researchers of literature and literary critics have already begun to find interest in popular literature, and to study this old yet quite familiar literature. Second chapter of this paper analyses the characteristics of popular literature as follows. First, success of main characters, secondly, making heroes or heroines out of main characters, thirdly, stylish expressions and something worth to be learned, finally, soft touch and dramatic tension. In third chapter, under the title \"popular literature, looked through Qiong Yao´s novels\", which is also the title of this paper, focuses on finding popular characteristics of novels of Qiong yao(1938-), a famous million seller female novelist of Taiwan. First characteristics of her novels, which is also the main theme of her novels, is absolutely supreme love between man and woman. Second one is found in the stories of ups and downs with dramatic reverses, and third characteristics is insertion of words , both of traditional poems and of modern songs. Besides, some old fashioned manner of style is easily found in the expressions of her novels. Although it is very difficult to define what is popular literature and what is pure literature, Qiong Yao\' popular novels seem to be descendents of popular novels of Yuanyang Hudie Pai, which attracted many Chinese readers during 1920\'s. In short, Qiong Yao\'s novels, sharing several popular characteristics with other popular literature, have successfully fascinated great many readers of Taiwan, Mainland China, and of other East Asian countries.
