In Ansung, there exist legendary tales, similar to those widely spread all over the country, such as, Mountain on Feet, General\'s Footprint, Cutting the blood vessel of mountain by Lee yosung, Temple of a housebug, Building castle by brother and sister, legends of a propitious site for a grave, Legend of Mt. Taebong, etc. There are some related tales related to Chil-jang-sa, a famous buddhist temple, which have been handed down from remote times on Gung-Ye, Hyeso-Guk-Sa, Daegak-kuk-Sa, Naong-Dae-Sa, Im-Gok-Jong, In-Mok -Dae-Bi (Queen Mother In-Mok), (Royal Inspector) Park-Mun-Su. Nahan-Jeon is also well-known for its wonder working effects specially to those preparing for exams. There is a tale on Baudug-i, a member of Namsadang (a troupe of actors)that she is granted jade beads directly from Dae-Won-Gun for her beauty and talents in the days of construction of Kyungbok Palace. City of Ansung, taking advantage of this tale (paying attention to this tale), held successfully the 1st Baudug-i Festival of Ansung last year. As for the other examples, ‘Ansung-Mat-chum’ has its origin of presentation of brassware produced in Ansung to the king and ‘Tu-jip-jap-da’ has something to do with repair of ‘Kat’(traditional Korean hat) in the ‘Do-gi-mori’ area of Ansung. These examples make us recognize the importance of Ansung both commercially and culturally in the past. Legends are considered as cultural assets from the view point that they let us know the history of the past and, at the same time, as a property which enables the creation of new culture. Viewed from this angle, the legends of Ansung are valuable enough to record them througout a general research.
