This study is designed to examine the current picture of educating volunteer managers in Korea and find out the direction for its betterment. The mail questionnaire was sent out for a total of 30 institutions, which might be educating volunteer managers, but only a half of them responded to the survey. The result was that education for the volunteer managers, in general, was carried out not systematically and often erratically in terms of types of education, its contents, certifying bodies, and etc. It was discussed that, first of all, education of volunteer managers should be divided in two ways; the certificate program and the retraining program. It also requires for a formal process of certifying the programs. Secondly, the status of volunteer managers has to be granted and protected by the law. Thirdly, it is necessary that the contents of the educational programs must be evaluated in terms of validity and appropriateness.
