The purpose of this study is to verify the effectiveness of object relations group therapy program for the adolescents in residential care to reduce the abandonment anxiety. The program was conducted totally 32 times. The one-group pretest-posttest design was used. This group were 14 to 18 aged adolescents who are protected in th facility which located in seoul. The quantitative and qualitative researches were carried out. Paired Samples t-test were done to evaluate the effectiveness of object relations group therapy program.
There was significant difference MMPI scores and abandonment anxiety test. The study was continued group therapy program for 9 months. The therapist played a role transitional objects for long term group therapy. In conclusion, object relations group therapy to enhance positive self-representation and self-esteem is an important practical implication for students who have abandonment anxiety problems.
