본 연구는 교사-아동 관계가 학령기 정신지체아동의 사회적 유능성과 문제행동에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 부산ㆍ경남에 소재하고 있는 특수학교와 일반학교에 재학하고 있는 정신지체 초등학생 73명을 대상으로 하였다. 연구결과, 먼저 교사와 아동이 친밀할수록 아동의 사회적 유능성은 높았으며, 아동과 교사와의 관계가 갈등적일 경우 아동의 사회적 유능성이 낮았다. 그러나 아동이 교사에 대한 의존과 아동의 사회적 유능성에 대한 인식과는 상관이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 문제행동은 아동과 교사간의 친밀도와 약한 부적 상관을 가지는 것으로 나타난 반면, 갈등적인 관계는 뚜렷한 정적 상관을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 아동이 교사에게 의존하는 관계와 문제행동은 약한 정적 상관을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 아동과 교사가 친밀할수록 아동의 문제행동은 적은 반면, 아동과 교사와의 관계가 갈등적이고 의존적일 경우 아동의 문제행동이 보다 많이 나타나는 것으로 나타났다.
The present research investigated the relationship between teacher-child relationships and social competence and problem behavior of children with mental retardation. Participants were 73 from both regular and special education schools. Social competence was measured using the Teacher-Child Rating Scale. And student-teacher relationships scale was measured using Student-Teacher Relationships Scale (STRS). Important findings of this study described as the following. First, Results showed that intimately student-teacher relationships was positively related to social competence. And conflict student-teacher relationship was negatively related to social competence. Secondly, problem behavior was negatively related to intimately student-teacher relationships. And problem behavior was positively related to conflict student-teacher relationship. These findings suggest that characteristics of social competence and behaviour problems of students with mental retardation were influenced on student-teacher relationships.
