본 연구는 일반 유치원 교사들이 인식하고 있는 발달상 학습장애 위험유아의 특성을 분석함으로써 대상 유아들을 위한 조기 진단, 판별 체계를 마련하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 서울과 경기도에 소재한 일반 유치원 15개의 일반 교사 148명을 대상으로 조사연구를 실시하였다. 연구 대상자들은 발달상 학습장애 위험유아의 6가지 발달 영역(언어, 인지, 사회, 운동협응, 청지각, 시지각)의 특성과 관련하여 5점 척도 기준으로 답하였다. 연구 결과 여섯 가지 영역에서 발달상 학습장애 위험유아가 보이는 주요한 특성들이 나타났고 특성 간 높은 수준의 상관관계가 보고되었다. 본 연구는 자기보고식의 조사연구가 가지는 한계점과 대상자가 두 지역에서만 선정된 제한점이 있으나 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학습장애 위험유아들을 위한 조기진단, 판별 체계 마련과 모든 영역 발달을 고려한 통합적 중재 프로그램 개발을 위한 시사점들이 제시되었다. 현재 개정된 특수교육법상 발달지체(developmental delay) 영역의 추가와 의무교육 연한이 확대되는 등 장애 유아 조기교육의 중요성이 강조되고 있는 시점에서 본 연구는 발달상 학습장애 위험유아 지도를 위한 유용한 정보를 제공하고자 한다.
The purpose of the present study was to examine the perception of general teachers in early childhood education regarding children at-risk for developmental learning disabilities. The participants of this study were 148 general teachers in early childhood education from 15 private kindergartens located throughout Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. Surveys were used to examine the characteristics of children at-risk in six domains including verbal, cognitive, social, kinesthetic co-ordination, auditory perception, visual perception area of developmental learning disabilities. Results indicated that the children at-risk for developmental learning disabilities showed several characteristics under the each domains. Based on the findings of this study, implications for teachers and researchers were discussed. This study provided fundamental data to develop early identification system and diagnosis for children who are at risk for learning disabilities.
