This study attempts to a local historical approach as a kind of methods to understanding the Korean Education. So, In this study, I examined the actual circumstances of the Education in Kyonggi Province Under the Japanese rule into the educational policy, school system, the actual condition of schooling, the present status of education, and Anti-Japanese national movement. This study purposes to thoroughly understand the Korean modern history of Education and to establish the Kyonggi Provincial history of education. The Education in Kyonggi Province Under the Japanese rule is divided into the nationalistic education and the colonial education. Educational policy of Kyonggi Province, school system, and the actual circumstances differ in the early stages of Japanese rule(1910-1919), the middle stage(1919-1937), the last stage of Japanese rule(1938-1945). Nationalistic Education is divided into private school education and national enlightenment movement. In spite that, until now so many paper on the Education in Kyonggi Province studied the education of colonial period comparatively well, but study on the national education based on nationalistic spirits and a spirits of independence is rare. Henceforth, from now on the nationalistic education needs to be studied in various ways.
