English is an international language both in name and reality, and all of us are
having been enthusiastic students to learn it since young children. But fluency in
English does not seem to be attained with all that effort. What\'s the reason? This
thesis rests its cause on the material we use in the classrooms.
They are not real or actual material although the texts for students are well
schemed and organized, so they can\'t make students feel curiosity or eagerness to
make use of it in real life. Students need new real material, and many scholars
recommend literature for more reasons besides the followings.
First, literature contains life itself. This makes you get effects on language,
emotional and cultural education. Second, literature has fun to motivate the
students to study, memorize and utilize the language easily and eagerly. These
give you good reasons to make use of the famous best-seller Harry Potter and
the Sorcerer\'s Stone by Rowling and American national poet Robert Frost\'s
Poems. They are very good and fit for being used as English texts to give
students curiosity, eagerness, cultural recognition, reality and emotions. Here in
this paper I suggest some practical ways to make good use of those works in the
English classrooms.
