질적연구 수행의 의미

본 연구는 질적연구의 수행하는 일의 의미를 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 지금 우리나라 교육학계에는 질적연구 관련 연구물과 질적연구 관련 안내서가 증가하고 있지만, 질적연구를 수행한다는 것의 의미를 탐구하는 연구물을 찾아보는 것은 쉽지 않다. 그것은 우리가 지금까지 정적연구의 또 다른 측면을 소홀히 해왔음을 의미한다. 이런 이음에서 본 연구자는 우리에게 지금까지 알려진 질적연구가 각각 해결하고자 하는 문제의식은 무엇이며 그것은 어떤 여눅대상과 질문으로 구체화되는지, 각각의 질적연구를 통해서 우리가 알 수 있는 것은 무엇인지 등을 검토하고, 그 결과에 근거해서 질적연구를 수행한다는 것이 어떤 의미가 있는지, 질적연구를 적절히 수행하기 위해서는 어떻게 해야 하는지를 이해하고자 했다. 검토 결과 연구자는 다음과 같은 점을 알게 되었다. 질적연구를 수행한다는 것은 단순히 질적연구 기법을 적용하는 것만 아니라, 각각의 질적연구가 전제로 하고 있는 문제의식이나 이론적 관점을 함께 수용하는 것이다. 따라서 질적연구를 적절히 수행하기 위해서는 연구자 자신의 문제의식과 이론적 관점을 명확히 하고, 그에 적합한 연구방법을 선택하거나 새롭게 모색해야 한다. 그렇게 했을 때 우리의 교육 현실을 충실히 이해하고 적절한 개선 방안을 모색할 수 있다. 주제어 : 질적연구의 수행, 질적연구의 대상과 질문, 질적여눅자의 과제.

영문초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of doing qualitative research. Until now there are many qualitative researches and literatures introducing qualitative research method in Korea. But it is not easy to find a literature inquires the meaning of doing qualitative research. It means that we have lost some important point of qualitative research. For this, I studied these three questions. First, what are the awareness of the issues of the qualitative researches which are known to us, and on what they study, and what are the main questions each of them? Second, what can we find out from the overview on the qualitative researches? Third, what is the meaning of doing qualitative research, and what should we do to do qualitative research adequately. From the study, I found this out. Doing qualitative research is not only just to apply a qualitative research technique to one\'s research, but also to accept the awareness of issue and theoretical perspective premised to the qualitative research method that he selects. So, If a researcher want to do qualitative research adequately, he should better define the awareness of issue and perspective of him, and select an adequate qualitative research method to his issue and perspective, or devise his own. That is the proper way to understand and improve the practice of Korean education.
