This paper examines the importance of new church member training for church growth from historical perspective to study biblical principle and ecclesiastic lesson regarding new church member training. Chapter 2 deals with new church member training shown in the Bible. For new church member training in the Old Testament, circumcision, training on Israelites, training on various foreign people during the exodus process, training on religious converts of Old Testament, and training on Jews after the period of Babylon captivity were the basis for study and what should be emphasized in the new church member training were identified. They are that the content of training should be the words of God as the church community is covenant community of God and that although theoretical training is important practical training are more so. From circumcision, Passover, and religious converter training of Old Testament, practical training such as training of ceremonies like baptism that continues on till this day are more critical and rules in church life are necessary. Also, the attitude of Moses where he did not teach Israelites using force or authority but became an example to train new church members is the more desirable way of approach. Through official believer training that took place at Beth Hassepher, Beth Hamidrash, Beth Talmud, and Academies after Babylon captivity showed the necessity of new church member training course as part of official training course of the church. For new church member training model in New Testament, from the training of Jesus, the focus should be made on training for salvation. The method for this is first, to become an example in life, second, to conduct training freely at everyday life, third, to involve various methods of teaching, fourth, to teach through experience of life, fifth, to train to enable believers to reach out to people in real life, sixth, to focus on the soul of individuals, seventh, to teach in accordance to spiritual maturity, eighth, to use methods such as individual consultation and ninth, to teach through trained disciples. In the new church member training of Jerusalem Church, the most important focus was to evangelize and raise believers in the midst of grace and this was achieved through community training, regular training, and training through holy communion. Characteristics of Paul\'s believer training are training for individual nurture, training for spiritual enhancement and training to become more like Christ. Chapter 3 is on new believer training shown in the history of church and studies the training from ecclesiastical point of view. The study is made on new believer training during early church period and the Middle Ages, as well as new believer training and contents of education and schools during the religious reform period. New believer training during the early church period includes first, meetings within the synagogue and family, second, nurturing at Catechumenal School, third, training at Catechetical School. In comparison, in the Middle Ages, training on faith was lacking and the dark times lasted and training barely continued on through the minor evangelistic small groups. However, during the Religious Reform period, new believer training spread actively and its content included Martin Luther\'s Small Cathechism, Calvin\'s Catechism that emphasized education on doctrines, Heidelberg Catechism and Westminster Catechism. Chapter 4 is on new believer training of recent missionary organizations and studies new believer nurturing system of Navigator Mission group and of Korea\'s Undergraduate students\' missionary group (CCC). Through these studies, various training principles and actual contents as well as method of training necessary for the new believer training course were identified.
