The purpose of this study was to discuss a Christian social welfare approach toward family based on existing studies, as family therapy as one of social welfare approaches to family seemed to be in line with Christian thought since both stressed the importance of family. As a result of analyzing existing studies, it\'s found that current social welfare approaches deal with a human being as a member of a family rather than as an individual, which results in overshadowing the importance of individuals. Like behaviorism, part of the core basis of system-oriented family therapy, family therapy is based on environmentalism and determinism, and assumes that every problem behavior is attributed to external factors, not humans themselves. Thus, there is a limit to this approach as it views man as being uncapable of keeping the environment in control. In Christian family therapy as part of social welfare, a family is the first system that was created by God and should be highly valued. Man should grow through the relationship with God, and in a biblical perspective, a married couple must totally be separated from their families of origin to unite with each other to prevent any possible family problems. Christian family therapy as part of social welfare pursues the recovery of man based on biblical principles. This study seems to be meaningful in that it laid the foundation for taking an inclusive approach to family from both Christian and psychological standpoints in the field of social welfare.
