In this study, I have attempted to identify the relations of ageism for the elderly experiences,
ego-resilience and suicide behavior and also to evaluate the mediation effects of ego-resilience. This study
is based on a cross-sectional survey of a representative sample of 603 the elderly and conducted by the
method of Sobel test(Preacher & Hayes, 2004) and correlation analysis. The results show that ageism for
the elderly experiences are associated with suicide behavior. The results also suggest that ageism for the
elderly and ego-resilience related significantly with sub-components, such as discrimination of disregard,
discrimination of evasion, and ego-resilience, although mediating effects of the ego-resilience present no
relationship with ageism for the elderly experiences and suicide behavior. This paper discuss the
significance and implication of the study regarding how ageism experience among the elderly is related to
suicide behavior. In addition, this study suggests the various ways to intervene and prevent the suicide
behavior of the elderly suffered from ageism.
