This study builds on economic and sociological perspectives and investigates how forms of capital (i.e., economic, cultural, and social capital) and habitus shape the college-choice process. Using the Education Longitudinal Study (ELS:2002), this study utilizes multinomial logistic regression with fixed effects. The findings indicate that differences exist in how the various forms of capital and proxies for habitus are associated with college choice. The results further reveal distinctly different patterns regarding the relationship among forms of capital and differential impact of habitus by race/ethnicity. Possible explanations for the results and the implications of the findings are discussed.
