This study was conducted to examine teachers’ teaching activity in infants and young
children class. To find the answers, 6 child care-center teachers were participated in this
study for six months from June to December 2010. Teachers’ field notes, children’s activity
plan, child care journal, activity video, teacher interviews, and teachers’ journal were
collected and analyzed for their topics. The research results are as follows. First, it was
found that teachers show common teaching activity in emergent theme, practice of various
activity materials, and reflections on their teaching. Second, teachers’ teaching activity in
infants class connect with infants’ development and play observation, object-centered theme,
individual activity and trustful relationship, repeated and parallel-activity by utilizing body,
role of guide, and the home, while in young children class they connect with group
learning process for answering questions, adaption to local features, flexibility of theme-web,
cognitive goal of learning, role of leader, and local community. These results have shown
the possibility of application in infants class and project related to real life enabled infants
and young children to immerse themselves in their activity.
