The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship among students' perception of teaching strategies, students' learning strategies, students' and academic achievement. The correlation of these three variables and the effects of students' perception of teaching strategies and students' learning strategies on students' academic achievement were also analyzed.
To accomplish this purpose, a total of 6908 third grade middle school students were sampled. The instruments used for the study were a teaching strategy scale, a learning strategy scale, and academic achievement. Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) using AMOS 7.0 was employed to examine the relationships.
The findings of this study were as follows: First, there are significant positive correlations among the students' perception of teaching strategies, students' learning strategies, students' and academic achievement. Second, the fit of the research model used in this study was confirmed as acceptable. Third, students' perception of teaching strategies directly affected students' academic achievement and had a indirect influence on students' academic achievement via students' learning strategies as well. Thus, teachers should recognize the importance of teaching strategies and should encourage students' learning strategies to improve students' academic achievement by using teaching methods effectively.
