국문초록

본 연구의 목적은 미디어교육을 통해 발생하는 노인의 전환학습의 과정을 이해하고 관점전환으로 인해 발생하는 결과를 밝히는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 미디어교육에 참가한 65세 이상의 노인 8인을 대상으로 기본적 질적 연구(basic qualitative research) 방법을 통해 진행되었다. 주된 자료 수집은 인터뷰를 통해 이루어졌으며, 자료 분석을 위해 반복적 비교분석법이 활용되었다. 본 연구의 결과 첫째, 노인의 미디어교육은 자신 및 사회에 대한 비판적 성찰인 이성적 과정과 미디어의 활용에 대한 긍정적 정서 경험의 정의적(情意的) 과정을 거쳐 발생하였다. 둘째, 본 연구의 참여자는 미디어교육을 통한 전환학습의 결과로 자기 자신에 대한 인식 및 성격적 기질의 변화를 통한 심리적 사고습관의 전환과 사회에 대한 새로운 인식을 갖게 되는 사회언어적 사고습관의 전환을 경험하였다. 본 연구는 미디어교육을 통한 노인이 전환학습이 비판적 성찰의 이성적 과정 이외에 긍정적 정서경험과 같은 정의적 과정을 거쳐 발생한다는 점을 밝혔다. 아울러 새로운 기술을 습득하고 보다 다양한 세상의 모습을 미디어에 담는 미디어교육의 특성으로 인해 노년기에도 미디어교육을 통해 사고습관의 변화를 통한 관점전환이 발생할 수 있다는 점을 보여주었다.

영문초록

The purpose of this study was to understand the transformative learning process of older adults who participated in media education and to find out what changes occur in terms of their perspectives. This study was conducted by a basic qualitative research method on eight older adults with age of 65 and above, who engaged in self-directed learning of media making and tried to create their own media products consistently. Data were mostly collected from interviews with each participants and were analyzed using the constant comparison method. This study found that the process of the participants' transformative learning in media education comprised conducting critical reflection in cognitive domain and having positive feelings in affective domain. This study also found that the participants' transformative learning in media education enabled them to transform their psychological habits of mind and sociolinguistic habits of mind. This study confirmed that older adults' transformative learning in media education consisted of both cognitive and affective processes. This study also concluded that older adults could experience perspective transformation in cognitive and affective domains.
