The purpose of this study is to investigate if the kinetic family drawing can be used as a projective
drawing test by dividing attachments which become the important foundation for emotional stability and
personal relationships into three attachment types targeting upper-grade students who psychological and
emotional anxiety heighten. Objects of study were 190 5th and 6th grade students of S and P elementary
school located in Seoul. The measuring devices were the kinetic family drawing (KFD) and RAAS produced
by Collins and Read, and the version which Park, Eun Kyung(1996) translated and Min, Young Sook(1993)
modified to make it suitable for the upper grade of elementary school was used in this study. For the data
analysis, I performed the independent sample t-test. The result are as follows. First, as a result of
examining response characteristics at three levels of the kinetic family drawing according to attachment
types of a child, for the dependent (evasional) type, the group which dependence (evasion) is high has the
low activity level of mother, father and oneself compared to the group which dependence (evasion) is low
and the group which anxiety (anxiety-ambivalence) has the low activity level of oneself. Second, as a result
of examining differences in response at the lower domain of the kinetic family drawing (KFD) according to
attachment types of a child, in the group which dependence (evasion) is high, directions of mother and
father and father and oneself face different directs with each other and the interaction level, cooperation
level and nurture level of father were low compared to the group which dependence (evasion) is low. For
the anxiety (anxiety/both families) type, in the group which anxiety (anxiety/both families) is high, mother
and father face different directions with each other compared to the group which anxiety (anxiety/both
families) is low. Also, the interaction level of father was low and his facial expression was not familiar. For
oneself, the nurture level was low. Therefore, This study has a significance as an initial study named
response characteristics of kinetic family drawing according to children's attachment types study of children.
