The importance of perceived competance as a mediator of achievement behavior among children is established in cariety physical activity. Also, perceived competence has been theorized as having an important effect on children\'s level of motivation.In recent years, the particular interest in the area of perceived competence has been the existence of possible developmental change in chileren\'s pereptions of competence, Some gender and grade differences in perceived competence were found in kinds of skills. the major purpose of the present study were to examine: (a) gender and grade differences of perceived competence on moto skills, (b) gender and grade differences of intrinsic motivation on physical education.
Males(n=105) and remales(n=91) in grades 4 through 6(n=196) were given The Perceived Competence Scale, a 24-item motor competence assessement battery, and Intrinsic Motivation Scale, a 15-item. Result revealed that males were higher than females in perceived competence and 5th grades higher than 4, 6th grades in perceived competence. Also, males were higher than remales in intrinsic motivation.
