The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of the application of the teaching games for understanding (TGFU) model in elemenraty and middle school, Concretely, this study examined the possibility of pereption and acceptance of TGFU model by age, and the possibility of connection among age.
In order to achieve this purpose, the following three problems were analyzed and they were: 1) students\' response for the partivipation of TGFU model (motivation and interest, the understanding of game. ineraction. children\'s perception on teachers). student\'s understanding and perception. teacher\'s understanding and acceptance of the teaching games for understanding in elemenraty school. and 2) studenta\' reponse for the partivipation of TGFU model ( motivation and interest. the understanding of game. interacion. and children\'s perception for teachers). students\' understanding and perception. teacher\'s understanding and acceptance of TGFU model in middle school. and 3) the possibility of connection between elementary school and middle school.
The subjects were 35 students in grade 6 of an elementary school, and the teacher of physical educaion of the calss, and 40 students in grade 1 of middle school, and the teacher of physical educaion of the class.
The findings of this study were as follows.
First, the students were positive for the teaching games for understanding classes in motivation and interest, the understanding of game, interaction, According to the results of this study, the successful experience made the students participate positively in physical educaion classes, and the successful experience was extended by game modification.
Second, the students had an eye for the games and sports, comprehended in depth the games and sports through the games for understanding classes.
Third, the inetraction among students incresed in the gemes for understanding classes. the students participated in the game of football mode had much oppurtunity for active interaction among their own team members. And they found the fact that success could be possible if only the members of the team would be faithful to the their own role, would be closely related to each other.
Fourth, the games for understanding classes affected positively the students\' better perception for their physical educaion teacher.
Fifth, the students accepted the games for understanding classes. This result showed that students\' acception of the teaching games for understanding classes effects positively on the formation of students\' good eye for the games.
Sixth, the teachers\' response and acceptance of the teaching games for understanding classes were confirmed by the change of their attitude. They found the gap between TGFU medel and technical model in students\' response and the effectiveness of learning.
Seventh, there were the possibility that the gaps occurred in the bisection of the furmal curriculum and content, namely, game centered physical educaion and sport centerd physical educaion could be cleared up.
