The movement of YMCA has had big influence in social sports of Korea, With the feeling of responsibility, it provided an opportunity of educating the whole personality of people with balance components of Gi(intellect) Deok (Morality ) and Che (Physical force). Having of YMCAmovement on social sports of Korea, observes the establichment of YMCA Korea, the historical background and the development of social sprots . Through this observation , this Study aimes to provide YMCA Korea an oppurtunity to rebound and studies a way to develop social sports. for that purpose this study explored how YMCA contributed to the development of national sports and social sports by introducing sports in Korea and distributin it. It divided the sports program of YMCA according to the period and investigated how it influenced the development of Korean sports. The result of this study are as follows. First, the eatablichment of YMCA and the historical background YMCA Korea was established on 28th October, 1903 with a name of Hwaing-Seong Gathering of Christian Youngster. It started to work based on the standard of YMCA Paris and Fourfold program. As a part of Fourfold program,it started social sports movement The theory of sports in the enlightening period was based on the wholistic theory of sports by Gulich who focused on the whole personality of a person combined by a body , mind and soul of a human being. Thus , YMCA Korea was only Korean organization which was permitted to develop sports monement from the enlightening period to the independence, and it made an invaluable contribution to the development of sports and sports of each period. Second, the influence on the modern social sports movement A. While Japanese government of the modern enlightening period utilized sports as a tool to selle down Japanese government of the modern exlightening period utilized sports as a tool to settle down the colonization of Korea, it was changed to a mean of physical training and enhancement of national spirit to revel against Japan. B. For the first time in the history, YMCA built a gymnasium in Jongno, Seoul. So people sould exercise concern to the weather or season. It also hold carious competitions to distribute the concept of cooperation fair play and sportmansship Through it, YMCA contrivuted to the development of Korean sports and wholistic education. C. YMCA encouragged the sports of women and helped women make inthe to society. It also contributed a lot to the succession and development of traditional sports by holding competitions of Korean wrestling and archery. D. YMCA movement became more active and progressive to cope against Japan taking the 3.1 uprising as a starting point. E. the sports progarm of YMCA is considred to have gradually gained the color of Nationalism and stilizaed sports to foster the national spirit. Third, insluence on the modern social sports A. Since the independence, the physical education has focused on the training of elite sports. YMCA put its efforts on distribution of social sprots through education for the health of citizen and it resulted in the development of social sports in Korea. The social sports movement is consist of physical fitness activity, performance enhancing activity , sunning of sports class for the youngster and citizens, distribution of movement for worders and organizing sports mania club and through theses activity , YMCA has distributed various sports to the nationsidel B. The economy of Korean grew up in large scale during 1960s and 1970s.And the government emphasized the exhancement of national resource and social selfate by investing on the expansion of athletic facility and engancement of performance. Subwequently, the athletic movement was biased on the education of elite sports and normal citizens were comparatively difficult to be involved in sports. C. YMCA has focused on the sports in order to activate social sports . It\'s effort to distribute various sports program resulted in encouragement of healthy leasure culture it allowed all the people from the chileren and the aged to contact the sports for all. And, thanks th toe effort of YMCA, the government is also pursuing for the sports for all.
