The primary porpose of sport education is to encourage all individuals to develop the skills and understandings necessary to partivipate in sport and to be good sportsman throughout their lives. The object of this case study is to describes the procedures of adopting and implementing sport education curriculum model in a elementary school physical education classes.
Case study design was employed. In order to collet data needed for the study, four data collection methods were used : 1) videotaping 2) partivipant observation 3) formal and informal in-depth interviews with an elementary school teacher and students 4) questionnaire.
The effects of sport educaion model applied in this study was categorized into fice areas: Self-regulating partivipation and student - centered class, better motivation, improvement of sports skills, positive interaction, and cooperation and mutual understanding.
The problems of sport education model applied in this study was categorized into three areas: a sense of alienation, excessive competition, a deficit of management ability.
In conlclusion,the students enjoyed thier experience in the sport education model and enjoyed it more than regular physical education lessons. It should be noted that the reasons for this favorable attitude stemmed from the structural arrangements of sport educaion mode, but sport education model has the points at issues. The students in this study found that sport educaion experiences was more interesting than their regular physical education experiences. they wanted to take part in another sport education mode. In order to settle down sport educaion model in elementary school classes several problems should be solved. First of all, we have to train teacher and prepare quality programs.
