The purpose of this study was to investigate growth and development on physique and physical fitness of elementary school girls and to evaluate the physical fitness. The subjects were 379 elementary school girls of age 9 to 11 . Six test items were used in assessing physical fitness. Measured data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA.
The primary principal component was treated as a fundamental physical fitness by principal component analysis. Mutiple regression analysis was also conducted to determine the regression equation for physical fitness. Six each item, 75% was selected to attain criteria for evaluation. The results were as follows:
1. There were differences in height, weight and bMI among groups of each age.
2. There were differencces in grip strength, 50 m run, standing long jump, sit ups , and 1000m run among groups of each age.
3. The fegression equations for physical fitness in the Elemenraty School Students as follows: For fourth grade, PFS= .224-.026x1-.029x2-.004x3-.342x4-.062x5(where x1=standing long jump .x2=sit ups, x3-1000m run, x4=50m run, x5=grip strength ). For fifth grade,PFS= .783-.024x1-.398x2+.013x2-.006x3+.032x4+.023x5
4. 75% Eash item was chosen to attain criteria for evaluation. The results were as follows. for fourth grade,14.8 kg for grip sterngth, 10.1seconds for 50 m run m 147 cm for standing long jump 32 times for sit ups 384.0 secs for 1000m run , and 14.6cm for sit and reach. For fifth grade, 17.3kg for grip strength , 9.5 sec for 50m run, 169 cm for standing long jump 33 times for sit ups 361.7sec for 1000, and 16.5 for sit and reach. For sixth grade 20.7 kg for grip strength, 9.4 sec for 50 m 166cm for sit and reach. For six grade 20.7kg for grip strength 9.4 sec for 50m 166cm for standing long jump 394.2sec for 1000m run and 16.0 cm for sit and reach
