The purpose of the study is to develop and validate the diagnosis tool of healthy school ecosystems.
To derive the elements of diagnosing healthy school ecosystems, the study reviewed theories of general
ecosystem, school ecosystems, health ecosystems, healthy school organizations, and school maladjustment
and adjustment. Based on those literature review, three categories and seven sub-categories were developed.
Three categories were resilience, organization and vigor. The inventory were administrated to 4,115
elementary, middle and high school students. The inventory of healthy school ecosystems was validated by
item analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. The result of confirmatory actor analysis indicated that the
inventory of healthy school ecosystems was made of three-factor structure and the model fit was good. The
three-factor structure of the inventory of healthy school ecosystems was made of 1) resilience 2) vigor
3) organization. The tree-factor structure of the inventory represented well diagnosing systems of healthy
school ecosystems. The inventory is expected to be a very useful tool to diagnose the level of school
ecosystems and find out the problems of school ecosystem to prevent school maladjustment.
