The purpose of this study is two-fold. First, this study investigated teachers’ perception on smart
education. Second, this study conducted importance-performance analysis(IPA) to identify areas need to be
concentrated for improvement. Teachers’ perception on smart education was categorized as self-directed,
motivated, adaptive, resource-enriched, and technology embedded. Each category was substantiated with
literature and then a survey for IPA was developed and implemented. As a result, facilitating authentic
learning experiences, providing rich interaction between teacher and learners, presenting clear leaning
objectives, using materials according with what is learned, and applying SNS(Social Network Service) tools
were perceived as the most important features in each category. According to IPA, providing learners for
active participation in knowledge construction, facilitating authentic learning experiences, and designing
learning activities for critical and creative thinking skills were identified as top priorities for improvement
and support
