This study aims to inquire into the reconceptualists approach in the field of curriculum. Pinar who is the key scholar in this field insists that curriculum studies should be changed from 'curriculum design and development' to 'curriculum understanding'. Pinar recommended that the definition of curriculum would like to reconceptualize the 'currere' in the era of post-modernism. Currere sees the curriculum as 'running the course', not 'race course'. The disciplinary base of currere are phenomenology, psychoanalysis and existentialism. And the method of currere can be explained to be the autobiological process of one's own inner experiences and lived experiences. Currere appraoches in curriculum study are given to wide the new interpretive basis between student and knowledge. It also provides the possibility of teachers role. Teachers role in general class is to transfer the knowledge in the text. But they had to change the role like a research teacher. They incessantly exchange the dialogue with the students for making meaning during the classroom activity. Currere approaches are also based on the self-reflection process. 'Currere' as an curriculum understanding is an important foundation for generating the human spiritual and existential liberation.
