움직임으로부터 얻는 감각경험 속에 내재되어 있는 의미야 말로 체육교과 만이 제공할 수 있는 독특한 교육적 공헌이다. 체육교사가 갖는 교육적 중요성은 학생들에게 수업시간 마다 해 볼만하고 만족스러운 경험을 제공하는데 있다(최의창, 2003). 신체 활동을 통해 얻는 개개인마다의 긍정적 경험들은 자발적인 참여 즉, 몰입 경험으로 학생들을 이끄는 단초가 될 것이다. 신체활동에서의 즐거움은 ‘좋아함, 재미와 같은 일반적인 느낌을 나타내는 스포츠 체험에 대한 긍정적인 정서반응’(Scanlan & Simons, 1992)으로 정의된다
The purpose of this study was to investigate the concepts of enjoyment of Korean and American children in participating physical activities. To achieve this purpose, the 36 Korean and 34 American elementary students were selected as participants. American elementary students were third, fourth and fifth grade students go to in the New Haven area. Korean students were fourth and fifth grade students of D elementary school, estimated possible to collect the data for performing this research, in Dae Gu, Korea. The data were collected by opened-questionnaire and in-depth interviews. and The students\' opened-questionnaire and interviews were analyzed via the concept of enjoyment by SoonYee, Park(2001). As a result of this study, Korean and American elementary students were experiencing various enjoyments in participating physical activities. The concepts of enjoyment were classed as 4 categories. The categories were \'self confidence\', \'amusement\', \'physical health and getting rid of stress\', \'team spirit\'. ※ Key words : enjoyment, participating, elementary school
