최근 수준별 학습과 자기 주도적 학습이 효과적인 학습의 방향으로 크게 주목받고 있다. 특히 다양한 기억술을 활용한 학습법은 단순 지식의 암기에서 벗어나 적극적인 학습 의욕을 고취시키고 총체적인 학습능력을 배양하는 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 하지만 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 지금까지는 실제 교육현장에서 기억술 활용 학습법이 제대로 자리잡지 못한 실정이다. 그 이유는 여러 가지로 생각할 수 있는데, 첫째, 학습내용의 기억을 단순 암기로 쉽게 인식하여 암기가 무조건 반복 연습의 횟수를 증가시키는 것으로 남용되었거나 잘못 사용되어 왔다는 것이다(김영환․박수경, 2000). 둘째, 대학 입학시험을 위해 교과서 전체를 통째로 외우거나 학습과제를 무조건 암기하는 방법으로 공부한 결과, 응용력이나 창의력이 떨어지는 문제점을 발생시켰다는 것에 기인한다고 생각된다. 결과적으로 장기적인 학습 효과면에서도 학습자의 학습동기와 학업성취도를 높이지는 못했다는 평가를 받고 있다(신영준, 2000).
This research is the investigation into the concrete effect of the learning method with schema on the learner\'s learning motivation and achivement. learning method with schema, which makes use of mnemonics, is the positive learning activity which encourage learner\'s memory and transfer of learning effect. According to our research, the learning motivation of the experiment group which made use of learning method with schema had much higher level of learning motivation and learning achivement result than the group which didn\'t. We also found out that the learning method with schema had the same level of long-term memory of learning regardless of the learner\'s level of learning ability. These results suggest that the learning method with schema is helpful to learning regardless of the learner\'s learning ability. Thus, we can expect that the introduction of learning method with schema into the classroom as the proper learning and instruction mothod of 7th national curriculum will be helpful to the enhancement of the learner\'s learning motivation and learning achivement.
