This paper reviews discussions on gender stereotypes of characters in children\'s literature and makes critical reflections on sexism embedded in children\'s literature and sex-role socialization process. It aims to provide theoretical and practical alternatives to overcome the limits of Aglo-American children\' literature by revisiting the characters as children\'s role models and examining meta-geographical analysis. Future research agenda are suggested based on the educational strategies to challenge and de-construct gender stereotypes through a feminist perspective.
