본 연구는 국외의 음악교육 연구동향을 조사·분석하여 연구동향을 살펴보고 이를 토대로 우리나라 음악교육연구의 과제와 전망을 제시하고자 하는 것이다. 대상학술지는 Update, JRME, CRME, IJME를 선정하였으며, 연구대상, 연구방법, 연구영역에 따라 분석하였다. 연구결과 학술지들은 첫째, 연령층과 학교급별 따른 연구대상이 다양하고 골고루 분포되었으며, 둘째, 다양하고 체계적인 연구방법을 활용하였으며, 셋째, 연구영역이 다양해지고 구체적이고 상세화된 연구주제에 대한 연구를 하였다.
The purpose of this was to investigate the trends of research in music education through the analysis of articles in Update, JRME, CRME, and IJME published from 1992 to 2004, and to make some direction for the future development of music education research in Korea. The articles in the journals were classified according to research samples, research methodology, and subject areas in music education. Major conclusions drawn from the findings are as follows: First, the samples were very diverse and evenly distributed based on age range and school level. Second, the research was applied various, scientific, and systematic research methodology. Third, the subject area in research was very diverse and the topics were very specific.
