본 연구의 목적은 대학(원)에서 피아노 교수학을 전공하는 학생들을 대상(n=92)으로 피아노 교수학을 대학(원)전공으로 선택하는데 영향을 준 요인과 학위과정 후 갖기를 원하는 희망진로와 실제 진로를 알아보는 것으로, 연구자가 직접 제작한 Korean Piano Pedagogy Major Inventory (KPPMI)를 사용하여 측정, 비교 분석해 보았다. 본 연구 결과, 피아노 교수학을 전공으로 선택하는데 가장 큰 영향을 준 요인들은 피아노를 가르치는 것이 좋아서, 피아노 음악이 좋아서, 아이들을 가르치는 것이 좋아서, 좋은 연주를 하는 것에 도움이 될 것 같아서, 그리고 피아노 지도 경험인 것으로 나타났으며, 가장 원하는 직업과 진로는 대학교수와 외국 대학원 진학인 반면, 실제 예상하는 직업과 진로는 피아노 지도교사와 외국 대학원 진학인 것으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study was to identify the perceived factors that influenced the career choice of piano pedagogy majors in Korean universities and to compare their occupational aspiration and the actual occupational expectation after graduation. The KPPMI was developed for investigating the career choice to the piano pedagogy major and their occupational aspiration and the actual occupational expectation after graduation. The participants indicated that they chose piano pedagogy as the college major because they liked piano music and teaching piano and children. Also, other reasons to choose piano pedagogy as college majors were the experience of teaching piano and the improvement in piano performance skills. Regarding their occupational aspiration and expectation for the future occupation, the participants pointed out that the most desirable occupation was a piano professor while the actual occupational expectation was a piano teacher for children. Recommendation and conclusion were provided for piano pedagogy majors and Korean Universities.
