본 연구는 영국, 캐나다 퀘백 주의 역량 중심 음악과 교육과정 문서를 비교 분석하고, 두 사례의 특징과 우리나라 음악과 교육과정에 주는 시사점을 찾는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 결과 다음과 같은 시사점을 발견할 수 있었다. 첫째, 역량 중심 음악과 교육과정은 학생들의 삶과 미래에 대해 보다 깊은 관심을 갖고 설계된다. 둘째, 역량 중심 음악과 교육과정 설계 시 역량의 음악 교과적 적용은 두 가지 방향(총론 차원의 일반적 역량을 음악과 교육과정에 적용하는 것, 음악교과 특수 역량을 설계하는 것)이 있을 수 있다. 셋째, 역량 중심 음악과 교육과정의 효율적 실행을 위해서 절차상의 원칙과 과정을 자세히 안내하는 음악 교육과정의 역할 변화가 필요하다.
The purpose of the study is to investigate the features of the documents of the UK and those of the province of Quebec, Canada by comparing and by analizing them, and to research their implications for Korean music curriculum. The three featured implications from the research are as follows: First, they designed the competency-oriented music curriculum with a deeper interest in the life and future of the students. Second, the design for the competency-oriented music curriculum has two directions of adapting the general competency from genera] guideline to music curriculum, and of designing music subject-specific competency. Finally, it is necessary to change the role of music curriculum into guiding the principle of the procedure and process for efficient implementation of the competency-oriented music curriculum.
