학교 음악교육의 목표는 음악과 교육과정을 통해 구현된다. 음악과 교육과정의 핵심은 음악교과에서 가르치고, 배우고, 경험해야 할 내용 선정의 조직을 체계적으로 제시하는 ‘내용체계’이다. 다양한 수준과 범위, 진술방식으로 제시될 수 있는 내용체계의 유형은 여러 나라의 학교 음악과 교육과정의 내용체계를 분석하고 각각의 유형을 파악함으로써 보다 잘 이해할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 음악과 교육과정 내용체계의 유형을 큰 틀에서 구분하고, 각 유형의 특징을 국가 별 사례와 함께 살펴보며, 바람직한 내용체계 제시 방식을 제안하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연 구에서는 음악과 교육과정의 내용체계를 크게 요목 중심, 성취기준 중심, 역량 중심으로 구분하 고 각각의 정의, 범위, 사례 및 장.단점들을 기술함으로써 차기 음악과 교육과정 개발을 위한 시사점을 제공하였다.
The objective of school music education should be brought to realization through the national music curriculum. The system of content is the most important element in the national music curriculum in that it systematically designates what to teach, what to learn, and what to experience through the subject matter of music. The system of content, which could be presented in a variety of ways including its organization and writing styles, may be understood by analyzing and categorizing various music curriculums of different countries. The purposes of this study are as follows: first, to categorize main presentation types of the contents and sequences of the music education curriculums; second, to analyze the characteristics of each type; and third, to suggest a more advisable way of presentation for the future development of music curriculum. As results of the study, ‘index,’ ‘achievement standards,’ and ‘competencies’ were identified as the key elements of the three main types of presentation of the contents of music teaching and learning. Accordingly, in this study, definitions, examples, and strengths and weaknesses of each type were described, and finally, a new type of presentation for music learning contents was suggested for the future development of the national school music curriculum.
