본 연구의 목적은 음악 콩쿠르 참가 경험이 초등학생의 음악적 자기효능감에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 이를 통해 콩쿠르의 긍정적, 부정적 효과를 심도 있게 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 콩쿠르에 참가한 초등학생 199명을 대상으로 음악적 자기효능감 사전-사후 검사를 실시하였으며 서술형 문항을 통해 콩쿠르 전후로 학생들의 인식 변화 또한 살펴보았다. 연구 결과 음악 콩쿠르 참가 경험은 전반적으로 초등학생의 음악적 자기효능감에 긍정적인 영향(사전평균-3.48, 사후평균-3.64)을 미친다고 볼 수 있으나 이러한 영향은 수상여부 및 수상순위에 따라 달라지는 것으로 드러났다. 특히 수상을 하지 못한 그룹의 경우 자기효능감 사후 평균이 떨어진 것으로 나타났다. 콩쿠르에 대한 인식 또한 수상여부,수상순위, 부담감 및 스트레스에 기인하는 것으로 나타나 자신감,자기조절 효능감 상승 등 콩쿠르의 긍정적 효과와 이와 반대되는 부정적 영향에 대한 깊은 이해를 바탕으로 한 적절한 지도가 필요함을 시사하였다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of participating in music competitions on musical self-efficacy and to understand the positive and negative aspects of music competition. Both pre-test and post-test for musical self-efficacy were conducted for 199 elementary students who participated in music competitions. In addition, the change of their perceptions of competition was surveyed by open-ended questions. The results indicated that the experience of music competition positively influence on subjects` musical self-efficacy. Important variables for musical self-efficacy include we ther to receive awards, levels of award, nervousness, and stress. The self efficacy of the group that received no award from the competition was declined after the competitions. These results represent that it is necessary to teach students with profound understanding of both positive and negative effects of music competition.
