음악과 미술교과는 둘 다 학습자의 심미적 경험을 불러일으키기 때문에 함께 연계하여 학습하기에 적절하다. 본 연구는 초등학교 고학년 학생을 위한 음악·미술 연계 프로그램을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 교과 연계 학습에 관련된 이론과 쟁점을 먼저 고찰하고, 먼로(Munroe, 2015)가 제안한 단계에 근거하여 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 예술의 서구화라는 공통 주제에 근거하여 폴리네시아의 음악과 미술을 학습하도록 하였다. 이를 통하여 학생들은 다문화 음악 학습의 폭과 깊이를 더하며 음악의 역사·사회적 맥락을 이해할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
Music and art disciplines are appropriate to connect each other since both bring about aesthetic experiences of learners. The purpose of this study is to design an interdisciplinary music and art program for upper elementary students. To do this, the writer examined the theories and issues regarding the interdisciplinary music education based on the suggestion of Munroe (2015). The program was designed to study the music and art of Polynesia based on a common theme of Westernization of arts. Through this program, it is expected that the students are able to understand the history and social contexts by expanding the breadth and depth of multicultural music learning.
