Byeokiyeonwonrok is a collection of books by Seongho family. Byeokiyeonwonrok was published twice in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The first compilation was led by Mokjae Lee Samhwan, whose purpose was to defend the innocence of the Seongho family in the Jinsan affair. A large number of Seongho school were involved in the establishment of the Korean Catholic Church and other Catholic related affair. The Deoksan area, where Lee Sam-hwan lived, was also constantly being released by Catholics. Park Jong-ak, a former Chungcheong Provincial Governor, was demanding Lee Sam-hwan to conduct an active perverse religion. Byeokiyeonwonrok was created by these times’ needs The second compilation was led by Yookhoidang Lee Sihong, whose purpose was to defend criticism of the Seongho school and establish the intellectual tradition of the Seongho family. Entering the 19th century, religious persecution led by the Noron Byeokpa was under way. Criticism of the academic purity of the Seongho school was continuously raised by Namin and Noron group. In the sequel to the Byeokiyeonwonrok, he claimed the innocent of the Seongho family for the Shin-yu persecution in a letter of farewell to Honggyoman., and denied Jesuit Accomodation. He also established the intellectual tradition of the Seong-ho family by using “Byeoki” as his family motto.
